Fox moves Ang Lee’s “Life of Pi” up a month!

It’s looking like Fox is rather high on Ang Lee’s ‘Life of Pi’ adaptation, since they’ve just moved its release up from December to November, according to The Wrap here. Originally scheduled for a December 21st release against the likes of ‘The Hobbit’, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘One Shot’, ‘This Is 40’, and ‘Zero Dark Thirty’, it now is up against slightly lighter fare in ‘Red Dawn’, ‘Rise of the Guardians’, and ‘The Silver Linings Playbook’. After the jump you can see why they might be doing this, but I think it’s a good move from the studio. The less crowded a week is that this film opens, the better it’s likely to do, obviously.

Since the buzz has been building for this flick now ever since CinemaCon, there are two real reasons for this move. One is financial, since there will be more box office up for grabs, but also now they can slowly expand it if they so desire and still have time to properly make their pitch to the Academy voters. I have no idea if it’ll end up with any nods, but this certainly improves its chances somewhat. Stay tuned for more on this flick as it becomes available…
