Fox Swaps ‘The Martian’ and ‘Victor Frankenstein’ Release Dates

The-Martian-Mark-Watney-Matt-DamonI can’t begin to tell you how vindicating it was to see how many of you were pumped up by the trailer for Ridley Scott‘s adaptation of The Martian. For over a year now I’ve been saying how great the book is and how this stands a chance to really be something special. Well, the folks over at 20th Century Fox must be pretty bullish on this one now too, as reports have them moving the release date for the flick up by over a month.

Fox has chosen to switch the original Thanksgiving release date in November and have it instead open on October 2nd, a date that originally belonged to Victor Frankenstein. That movie will now be taking the turkey day slot, so The Martian gets to benefit by some added exposure. Could this mean the film might be poised to unveil itself at the New York Film Festival, or maybe even something sooner? That remains to be seen, but this is good news for a really good looking flick.

Stay tuned for lots more on The Martian, starring Matt Damon, as I’m incredibly excited to potentially see this live up to my high expectations. Now, the waiting has become the hardest part.
