Bad Times at the El Royale” is getting a new release date. After thrilling audiences with the trailer two weeks agoTwentieth Century Fox announced the change yesterday.

Deadline reports that the thriller will move back just one week, from October 5 to October 12.

Fox didn’t say the reason for the move, but production on “El Royale” has been very quick. They only began principle photography in January. A tight schedule isn’t unusual in film. And with the overwhelming enthusiasm the trailer received, it makes sense that Fox wants to capitalize on the good will and present the very best product they can.

“Bad Times at the El Royale” stars Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Jon Hamm, Dakota Johnson, Nick Offerman, and Chris Hemsworth. It tells the story of a fateful meeting between seven strangers, all of whom have dark secrets. The setting is the infamous El Royale Hotel in Lake Tahoe. It is located on the border of Nevada and California. And it is sometime in the 1960s. Drew Goddard (“The Cabin in the Woods”) wrote and directed the film.

In addition to shifting the date on “El Royale,” Fox also announced the release date for Joe Wright‘s next project, “The Woman in the Window.”

Amy Adams stars in the film which is described as:

“An agoraphobic woman living alone in New York begins spying on her new neighbors only to witness a disturbing act of violence.”

There is certainly an Alfred Hitchcock/”Rear Window” vibe to the story, which is adapted from a novel by A.J. Finn. According to sales estimates, Finn’s debut novel has sold more than a million copies, and has been translated into more than 36 languages.

Tracy Letts is writing the adapted screenplay.

“The Woman in the Window” is expected in October 2019.
