John David Washington, Alicia Vikander, Boyd Holbrook and Vicky Krieps are boarding Luca Guadagnino‘s project “Born To Be Murdered.” Ferdinando Cito Filomarino is directing.

As reported in a Deadline exclusive, Washington and Vikander are set to lead the project. For now, plot details are slim. “Born To Be Murdered” is set to follow a vacationing couple in Greece (Vikander and Washington) who encounter  dangerous conspiracies.

From the Deadline article:

Cito Filomarino stated, “Born to Be Murdered is my take on the manhunt thriller, as inspired by so many movies and books I always admired. I have worked for years in creating its specific tone and story with the tireless support of my writer Kevin Rice, and I am honored to have the extraordinary John David Washington join me to portray the restless and conflicted journey of such a special character.
I am thrilled and to be working with the wonderful Alicia Vikander, the beautifully intense Vicky Krieps, the superb Boyd Holbrook. With this incredible cast and with my unique collaborators, Born to Be Murdered will be a fantastic experience that pushes genre to a new place.”

Director of the Oscar-winning “Call Me By Your Name,” Guadagnino is serving as executive producer on the project. With the cast taking shape, the film is poised for a steady anticipation. After all, Guadagnino helmed last year’s divisive “Suspiria” remake. The thriller genre is itching to continue under Guadagnino’s returning crew.

More statements from the article:

Guadagnino, Morabito, Melzi and Moratti added in a joint statement, “We have been working with Ferdinando for ten years, following and supporting his career since the beginning. He is an exciting new voice in international cinema, and with Born To Be Murdered, he has the chance to be embraced in a bigger scope…”

Cito Filomarino served as second unit director on Guadagnino’s films including “I Am Love,” “Call Me By Your Name” and “Suspiria.” He is directing “Born To Be Murdered” with a script written by Kevin Rice. Cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom, Oscar-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto and editor Walter Fasano also join the project.

The feature is forming an excellent cast so far. John David Washington starred in Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman” and is set to lead Christopher Nolan’s untitled 2020 project. Oscar winner Alicia Vikander starred in “Tomb Raider.” Vikander is currently working on David Lowery’s “Green Knight.” Vicky Krieps, who stunned audiences last year in “Phantom Thread,” is currently dividing her time filming “Bergman Island” and Barry Levinson’s “Harry Haft.” Boyd Holbrook is currently working on the Sean Ellis horror “Eight for Silver.” Holbrook also stars in the Tribeca debut “Two/One.”

Frenesy Films, MeMo and RT Features are producing the feature. “Born To Be Murdered” is currently under production in Greece.
