Deadline reports that the action-thriller “Honest Thief,” starring Academy Award nominee Liam Neeson, has had its UK & Irish rights acquired by Signature Entertainment.

Kate Walsh (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Jai Courtney (“Suicide Squad”), Jeffrey Donovan (“Burn Notice”), Anthony Ramos (“A Star is Born”) and Robert Patrick (“Scorpion”) also star in the film, which tells the story of a bank robber (Neeson) who attempts to turn himself in after falling in love with a woman (Walsh) who works at the same facility his stolen money is kept. A corrupt FBI agent (Courtney) is assigned to the case and chaos ensues.

The film will be directed by Emmy Award nominee Mark Williams, who co-created and currently produces the award winning Netflix drama “Ozark,” as well as serving as a producer on “The Accountant” which starred Ben Affleck. He has a slate of films in the works for 2020 alongside “Honest Thief,” including “The Minuteman” which also stars Neeson and “The Manuscript” with Jamie Foxx which has yet to begin production.

A comment from Signature’s director of acquisitions Elizabeth Williams on the project was published by Deadline:

“We are delighted to have acquired Honest Thief with Liam Neeson, one of the biggest stars in the world. UK & Irish audiences will love its breath-taking action and plot twists, with Liam in his element as a highly skilled ex-criminal just trying to do the right thing. The film will be a tentpole release for Signature in 2020 and its addition to the slate demonstrates the company’s ongoing dedication to releasing the most exciting independent action films in the market”.

“Honest Thief” is one of many films that Signature Entertainment will be releasing in 2020. Their upcoming projects for the year include “The Wolf Hour” with Naomi Watts, “Escape From Pretoria” based on a true story and starring Daniel Radcliffe, and “The Iron Mask” with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan.
