Netflix Unveils Life-Size Display of USS Callister in Hollywood

USS Callister

At a special event in Hollywood Tuesday night, Netflix unveiled a life-sized display to celebrate the Emmy nominated TV movie, “Black Mirror: USS Callister.”

As the sun set over Sunset Boulevard and the temperatures finally began to dip back into double digits, Executive Producer Andy Weil introduced stars Jesse Plemons, Cristin Millioti, and Jimmi Simpson, all of whom were in attendance.

Netflix announced:

The USS Callister life size display will be up in front of the Mutato Building on Sunset Boulevard until Friday, August 17. Netflix brand ambassadors will be stationed at the site handing out branded swag from the Emmy nominated series.

The display features life-sized cut outs of the show’s stars aboard the bridge of the eponymous USS Callister. All are welcome to stop by and see it at 8760 Sunset Blvd.

“Black Mirror” is an anthology series on Netflix. Because of the nature of the series, with separate casts and directors in each episode, the individual entries qualify for the TV Movie categories at the Emmys. “Black Mirror” has earned eleven Emmy nominations over four episodes, winning two last year for the remarkable “San Junipero.”

“USS Callister” was the first episode of season four. In it, a woman wakes up to find herself about a space ship with an eerily Star Trek-ish vibe and a crew that practically worships their captain.

The episode earned seven Emmy nominations for Outstanding Limited Series or Movie, Best Actor Jesse Plemons, editing, sound editing, cinematography, writing, and music composition. It is the most nominated television movie at the 2018 Emmys.

“USS Callister” and 20 other episodes of “Black Mirror” are available on Netflix. Season 5 will be available later in 2018.
