New York Film Festival Announces Surprise Screening This Sunday

NYFF52-LOGO 2Big news came out of the 52nd New York Film Festival early yesterday as it was announced that this weekend we’re going to have a “Surprise Screening”. That’s slightly different wording than the “Secret Screenings” from 2011 and 2012 that turned out to be Martin Scorsese‘s Hugo and Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln, respectively, but it’s enough to get someone like me very excited. The announcement merely says the following: “Join us for a surprise screening of a highly anticipated 2015 release from a New York Film Festival favorite!” With no officially announced running time (despite some rumors that it’s either 90 some odd minutes or 120 plus) and the possibility that it could actually be a 2014 qualifying run that’ll just be opening wide in 2015, lots of things are on the table. To me, the smart money is on Noah Baumbach‘s film While We’re Young, but there are a few other movies that one could see being a potential special surprise on Sunday, with Clint Eastwood‘s American Sniper another popular rumor floating around. Either way, both Clayton and I are likely going to be there to witness what it is firsthand, so follow us on Facebook (The Awards Circuit/Clayton here and myself here) and Twitter (here for The Awards Circuit/Clayton and here for yours truly) if you don’t already in order to get the latest. In the meantime, feel free to speculate and let the buzz begin…
