Octavia Spencer is in talks to join Guillermo Del Toro’s latest mystery project for Fox Searchlight.

According to Variety, Del Toro is writing, directing and producing the film, which will be an otherworldly love tale set in America during the Cold War era.

The outlet reports that Del Toro had been weighing several options for upcoming projects, but this one in particular was always a big priority. Not much is known about the project, other than it will begin shooting in the summer.

Spencer can currently be seen reprising her role in “The Divergent Series: Allegiant.” She will also play God in “The Shack,” which will be released later this year. She also just finished up filming “Gifted” alongside Chris Evans.

It was also recently announced that Spencer will star alongside Taraji P. Henson and Kevin Costner in Fox 2000’s “Hidden Figures.”

“Hidden Figures” follows Katherine Johnson (Henson), a brilliant African-American mathematician who was part of the brain power behind the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. Two other women, Dorothy Vaughn and Mary Jackson, served with Johnson on the mission, which was a resounding success.

For his part, Del Toro also has a myriad of projects coming down the pipelines. The famous creator is still working on a stop-motion animated version of “Pinocchio” that has been in development for going on eight years.

He is also working on the FX vampire show “The Strain,” as well as the screenplay for “Pacific Rim: Maelstrom,” the follow-up to his 2013 film “Pacific Rim.”

Variety was the first to report the news.
