With much of the world currently in lockdown and productions across the globe shut, filmmakers are thinking of new and inventive ideas to keep content flowing during these difficult times. Today, according to The Hollywood Reporter, ITV has commissioned a four-part series titled “Isolation Stories” that will aim to accurately portray what families all around the world are going through at this time.

The series is executive produced by Academy Award nominee Jeff Pope, best known for his work on “Stan & Ollie” as well as “Philomena” alongside Steve Coogan, the latter of which earned them both Academy Award nominations. It will air on ITV in the UK and they will reportedly be working on distributing the series to international audiences.

Included in The Hollywood Reporter’s article is the following quote from Pope speaking of the importance of this upcoming series:

“Like everybody else, I have been isolating at home, and in my case watching my wife suffering badly with the virus. I wanted to do something to catch the mood. I knew it would be very difficult to try and shoot dramas in these circumstances, but I felt the public would understand if things were a little rough and ready, if we at least had a go.”

The episodes will be 15-minutes-long according to The Hollywood Reporter, with no casts announced as of yet. Directors on the series include Paul Whittington and Paul Andrew Williams, the latter of which worked on the third season of the beloved British series “Broadchurch.” Whittington recently directed several episodes of the drama series “White House Farm” which starred Stephen Graham (“The Irishman”) and Mark Addy (“Game of Thrones”). It’s also reported that the actors will be filming the scenes themselves given the restrictions.

The series will be like nothing else seen on television at the moment, due to the style of the production. It’s remarkable that Pope & co have been able to put their creative minds together during this difficult time to create such a seires, and it will be exciting to see exactly how it turns out. There is no precise release date as of yet.
