The incredibly talented Joaquin Phoenix won his overdue Academy Award earlier this month in Best Actor as the villainous and iconic “Joker,” in the film directed by Todd Phillips.
After following and studying the Academy Awards for decades, the number “4” comes up quite a bit when looking through 92 years of winners. Phoenix joined the list of those who won their first Oscar on their fourth nomination.
Phoenix was previously nominated for “Gladiator” from Ridley Scott, “Walk the Line” from James Mangold, and “The Master” from Paul Thomas Anderson.
The number “4” comes up a lot when looking at acting winners of the 92 year Academy history. Maureen Stapleton (“Reds”), Robert Duvall (“Tender Mercies”), Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”), and Robin Williams (“Good Will Hunting”) all were able to secure wins on the fourth nomination.
We took a look at some of the best three (3) time nominees that don’t have a statue yet and left it up to our readership to choose just one of 15 candidates that are listed below.
After you make your daunting choice, go to the comments and let us know who you chose and why…and maybe even include someone that wasn’t listed as well.
