FINAL EMMY PREDICTIONS 2020 :
The Lead Actress-Comedy race is thinner in numbers than previous years but the talent is plentiful. There are safe bets in the mix like
(“ Christina Applegate Dead to Me“), (“ Rachel Brosnahan The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel“), and (“ Catherine O’Hara Schitt’s Creek“). With that said, we’re foreseeing some jaw-droppers ahead and we’re looking at (“ Hailee Steinfeld Dickinson“), (“ Zoe Kravitz High Fidelity“), and maybe (“ Kristen Bell The Good Place” and if they feel sentimental) to make the shortlist. Brosnahan won this award as Midge Maisel in 2018 before losing last year's prize to Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The show is a favorite to win the big one so she could easily come along for the ride.
There's a ground swell for "Schitt's Creek" and that goes towards Catherine O'Hara as well. That seems to be her main competitor.
It has been 38 years since Catherine O'Hara won an Emmy for writing "SCTV Network 90" in 1982. She beat the odds and finally got cited for her role as Moira Rose last year. The farewell season seems like perfect timing.
The comedic genius of Christina Applegate has been realized in her later career and she's managed some Emmy nominations with her back against the wall (i.e. not so good reviews for "Samantha Who?" but making the cut in 2019 should show an easy road for her this year. Perhaps even contending.
How well will "Dead to Me" do with the TV Academy? No one knows for sure.
Issa Rae has had a strong year with "The Lovebirds" and "The Photograph" and continues to build her cred. She nabbed a nomination in 2018 but took last year off.
With three seasons under its belt, the show has continuously underperformed at the Emmys. Who knows if they really appreciate it.
We'll call this the No-Guts-No-Glory pick and a benefit to everyone staying at home and discovering it.
Like we said, NO GUTS, NO GLORY - which could mean it's not happening.

The talented Linda Cardellini holds her own significantly against co-star Applegate. Double-dipping could be on the way.
A beloved show in its final season and Kristen Bell has never found her way into a lineup. Are they finally ready to do so? Golden Globes thought so last year.
It's a rare thing to be passed over for an entire series run and then gets it in the end. Didn't help Courtney Cox for "Friends."
Pamela Adlon has shocked in this category not once but twice in 2017 and 2018. Seems to be a clearer road for her and it should surprise any to hear her name included.
Sam Fox has found love in Lead Actress but "Better Things" has failed to make anything else outside of that. It needs broader support.
"The Great" may overperform but it's totally warranted and Elle Fanning should come along nicely.
Golden Globes will likely bite but not sure the TV Academy will.

If someone has the record, consider them accordingly.
Did the sun set on "Mom" with Emmys? Probably but who knows?
Could it be one of those situations where she gets nominated for "The Farewell" at the Emmys, but for another show? Think the reverse Matthew McConaughey for "True Detective" and "Dallas Buyers Club."
The show will struggle to have voters watch it.

Could be one of those surprises that the show speaks to the time we're living in, with some type of Academy representation coming.
Show's reception doesn't support this theory and not sure voters took the time for it.
Despite the show's cancellation, we will always remind the world that Merrit Wever managed to beat out some very stiff competition for "Nurse Jackie" and then again for "Godless."
The show is likely pulling a donut, no matter how loved she is. Plus, she has her chance for "Unbelievable."
