Sienna Miller and Diego Luna Team Up in ‘Wander Darkly’

Magical realism has been making a comeback in film over the past couple of years. Often paired with tragic events, the genre has the ability to transport an audience into weird and different worlds. From “We the Animals” to “Pan’s Labyrinth” to “Birdman,” the genre has made a strong mark on modern cinema. This makes the upcoming film, “Wander Darkly” an interesting one to keep an eye on. The film was announced today with Sienna Miller and Diego Luna set to star.

Miller and Luna have both had an opportunity to break out in the last few years. Miller won the BAFTA Rising Star award after “Stardust” in 2007. She received praise for her roles in “The Lost City of Z,” “American Sniper” and “Live By Night.”  Luna has been a known actor for years. His first big hit was “Y Tu Mama Tambien” in 2001. He appeared in “Milk,” “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” and the upcoming “If Beale Street Could Talk” for Barry Jenkins.

51 Entertainment will produce “Wander Darkly.” Tara Miele wrote the screenplay and will direct as well. Lynette Howell Taylor and Samantha Housman will produce the picture. Taylor also produced “A Star is Born” from Bradley Cooper. Shivhans Pictures joins 51 Entertainment to produce the film. The last time 51 Entertainment and Shivhans collaborated, the result was “Mr. Fantastic,” which picked up a Lead Actor nomination at the Oscars for Viggo Mortenson. “Wander Darkly” will tell a love story in the aftermath of a devasting car crash, paving the way for the potential for more awards in the future. Miller and Luna feel like they’re on the rise, and this vehicle will certainly help.
