Signature Entertainment Acquires International Rights to Tom Berenger’s ‘Blood and Money’

As reported by Deadline, Tom Berenger’s upcoming thriller “Blood and Money” has had its International rights acquired by Signature Entertainment, with the company set to distribute the film worldwide except to the United States, with Screen Media already purchasing the U.S. rights.

Academy Award nominee Berenger (“Platoon”) stars as retired veteran Jim Reed, who finds the body of a dead woman as well as a large sum of money while out hunting in the wilderness. The film is directed by John Barr in his feature film debut, having previously been best known for his work as a cinematographer on films such as “This Teacher” and “Once Upon a Time in Queens.”

Other cast members alongside Berenger include Paul Ben-Victor (“The Irishman”), Kristen Hager (“Condor”), and Erica McDermott (“The Fighter”).

Including in Deadline’s article is the following quote from Andrew Nerger, Head of International Distribution at Signature Entertainment:

“We are extremely excited to be adding Blood And Money to Signature’s ever-growing international sales slate. We immediately recognised the film’s commercial appeal and are confident audiences throughout the world will be drawn to the quietly understated performance from Academy Award-nominee Tom Berenger, the enthralling story and outstanding filmmaking reminiscent of atmospheric films such as Hell Or High Water or No Country For Old Men. Writer/director John Barr and producer Suza Horvat have delivered an exceptional independent thriller that we are delighted to bring to the market.”

Berenger broke out in Hollywood during the 1980s thanks to his stunning performance in the war-drama “Platoon” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture as well as earning the actor a Best Supporting Actor nomination. He also earned an Emmy nomination back in 2012 for his performance as Jim Vance in the limited series “Hatfields & McCoys.”
