SXSW 2017

sxswSouth by Southwest (SXSW) has announced six more films that will have their premiere at its film fest in March, including: Paul Reubens’ “Pee-wee’s Big Holiday,” “Tony Robbins: I Am Not Your Guru,” “Beware the Slenderman” and the Seth Rogen-directed “Preacher.”

Jeff Nichols’ sci-fi drama “Midnight Special,” which stars Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton and Kirsten Dunst, will have its North American premiere at SXSW as well. It is first premiering at the 66th Berlin Film Festival. Athina Rachel Tsangari’s “Chevalier” is also having its North American premiere at SXSW.

It was announced back in November that Richard Linklater’s latest dramedy, “Everybody Wants Some,” would be the festival opener. Linklater’s “Boyhood” premiered at the festival last year, and went on to receive critical acclaim and several Oscar nominations, although it ultimately lost in the Best Picture category to “Birdman.”

According to Variety, the rest of the feature film lineup for SXSW will be revealed Feb. 2, with the remainder of the film festival lineup being announced Feb. 9.
