‘The Woman in the Window’ with Amy Adams Pushed to May 2020 Date, Other Fox 2000 Titles Shift Release

Now under the Disney umbrella, Fox 2000‘s title “The Woman in the Window,” starring six-time Academy Award nominee Amy Adams, has officially been pushed back to May 15, 2020. The Joe Wright-directed thriller was originally set to release October of this year to contend for some awards play. The film was originally eyeing an October 2019 release schedule until test screenings paved its way back to production work.

It followed the story of an agoraphobic child psychologist (Adams) who witnesses something tragic. Tracy Letts is adapting A.J. Finn’s best-selling thriller novel of the same name. In July, the project was reportedly in need of reshoots after poor early test screenings. The film will also star Anthony Mackie, Brian Tyree Henry, Julianne Moore and Gary Oldman. Wright’s past directorial efforts include “Atonement,” “Pride and Prejudice” and “The Darkest Hour.”

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, other titles effected by the shift include “Cruella,” the Emma Stone led adaptation of Disney’s 1961 animated classic “101 Dalmations.” Stone is set to star as the notorious villain Cruella de Vil. The film moves from its December 23, 2020 date to May 28, 2021. Other Fox titles moving are David Britten Prior’s supernatural thriller “Empty Man” for August 7, 2020, and Jonathan Butterell’s  “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie,” a film adapted from a British stage musical, starring Oscar nominee Richard E. Grant (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”), for May 28, 2021.
