‘This Is Spinal Tap’ and ‘Reality Bites’ To Receive Tribute Screenings at 2019 Tribeca Film Festival

It’s time to turn it up to eleven at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. “This Is Spinal Tap” continues to hold the belt for the greatest musical parody film ever. “Reality Bites” became a surprise debut feature from Ben Stiller as a director, and represented an era on screen. Both films will receive tribute screenings at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. The two screenings are just some of the many amazing films that will debut or screen at the festival in April of 2019.

“This Is Spinal Tap” remains a huge hit and cultural touchstone 35 years after its release. Directed by Rob Reiner, “Spinal Tap” helped establish Christopher Guest as a creative force. The writer and actor brought together the beginnings of his troupe that is responsible for “A Mighty Wind,” “Waiting for Guffman,” and “Best in Show” over the past thirty years. Michael McKean and Harry Shearer star alongside Guest as the titular band. The cast also features Bruno KirbyFran Drescher, and Ed Begley Jr. If you’ve never seen “This Is Spinal Tap,” please remedy the mistake.

On the flip side, “Reality Bites” has gained acclaim in recent years. While not acclaimed in 1994, the Stiller-directed narrative continues to gain respect from critics and moviegoers. The all-star cast features Stiller, Winona RyderEthan HawkeRenée Zellweger, Steve Zahn, Janeane Garofalo, and more. The story about a wandering group of early 20s kids in the 1990s struck a chord with young audiences at the time and helped define Generation X in the process.
