The actress also announced the news via her Instagram and Twitter feeds:

Haddish was the breakout star of last summer’s comedy, “Girls Trip.” The news follows just a few days after Netflix confirmed a straight-to-series order for the animated show “Tuca and Bertie,” in which she will voice one of the main characters.
She recently signed on to co-star with Melissa McCarthy in the crime/drama, “The Kitchen,” about wives who continue their husbands business rackets after the men go to prison. Haddish recently wrapped production on two comedies, “Night School,” and “Uncle Drew,” that are both due out later this year. She will star alongside Tracy Morgan in “The Last O.G.” from John Carcieri and Jordan Peele. And she is currently filming the comedy/thriller, “The Oath.”
All of this follows a successful guest hosting appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” and a lot of critical attention for her work in “Girls Trip.”
The MTV Movie and TV Awards began life in 1992 as simply the MTV Movie Awards. Winners over the years have included “Terminator 2,” “A Few Good Men,” “Scream,” and four out of five of the “Twilight” films. The fifth, “Breaking Dawn Part 2” failed to even score a nomination. Last year’s Best Film was “Beauty and the Beast,” and for the first time ever, the acting categories were unified into a genderless award that went to Emma Watson.
The 2018 MTV Movie and TV Awards will air on MTV on Monday, June 18 at 9PM ET/PT. The nominees and presenters will be announced at a later date.
