Toni Collette Cast in Netflix Drama Series ‘Pieces of Her’

Academy Award nominee Toni Collette (“The Sixth Sense”) has her next project in the pipeline. According to Deadline, DGA nominee Minkie Spiro (“Fosse/Verdon”) will direct the upcoming eight-episode series “Pieces of Her” that is based on the critically acclaimed thriller novel by Karin Slaughter.

Executive producers on the project include Lesli Linka Glatter, Bruno Papandrea, and Charlotte Stoudt, with the latter serving as showrunner and writer on the series. Set in Georgia, 30-year-old Andy Oliver is caught up in a tragic, life-changing event and witnesses her mother Laura (Colette) do something so dramatic that it leads Andy to a journey across America to learn more about her family and its dark truths.

Collette is coming off the back of her Golden Globe nominated role in the Netflix miniseries “Unbelievable,” where she played a detective hunting down a serial rapist. Collette is no stranger to television, particularly in recent years, with roles in “Hostages” and the British series “Wanderlust” to her name.

She has also had a string of successful films in the last couple of years, including Rian Johnson’s murder mystery “Knives Out” and in Ari Aster’s horror “Hereditary” in which she also served as executive producer. “Pieces of Her” and “Unbelievable” are not her first collaborations with Netflix, having starred in the 2019 supernatural thriller “Velvet Buzzsaw” alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.

“Pieces of Her” isn’t the only project Collette is working on at the moment. It was reported that filming on Guillermo Del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley” had begun which stars Collette, as well as having a role in Charlie Kaufman’s next feature “I’m Thinking of Ending Things” which is being distributed by Netflix. She also features in the upcoming drama film “Dream Horse” coming out of Sundance, starring alongside Damian Lewis. It is set to be released in May and will be the first of many in what is a very busy and exciting 2020 for Collette.
