It takes a lot to have a license to kill. The spy genre goes back even farther than the first James Bond film in 1962. The genre is still just as popular today. Case in point, this weekend is chock-full of spy movies. “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” finds Tom Cruise trying to clear his name behind a major government conspiracy. On the other side of the genre spectrum is “Keeping Up with the Joneses.” A normal couple (Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher) become friends with their next door neighbors (Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot), who turn out to be government spies. In honor of the wide breadth of tone present in this week’s movies, we are taking a look at the top 10 spies in film. From broad comedy to gritty drama, the spy genre is more malleable than meets the eye.
