Warner Brothers Gives Release Date to ‘Creed’ and moves ‘Point Break’ Remake…Again!

WBThe powers that be over at Warner Brothers are clearly doing some release date housekeeping. Earlier, it came out that WB has given the Rocky sequel/spinoff Creed an official release date and bumped the remake of Point Break around on the calendar yet again. The former can be seen on Thanksgiving of this year, while the latter (for those few who actually will want to see it) can now call Christmas Day home, at least until it gets pushed again.

Initially, Point Break was to be seen in July, so make of that what you will. The interesting news to me here is that Creed has a decently plum release date. Despite the iffy concept of a spinoff centering around Apollo Creed’s grandson being trained by Rocky Balboa, the talent involved has me curious. Ryan Coogler is at the helm, with his Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan in the title role. Yes, Sylvester Stallone is involved as well. Can it somehow be an awards contender? Probably not, but hey…anything is possible. Maybe both movies will turn out to be awesome. Maybe both will wind up being stinkers. Either way, we’ll find out later on this year. Check back over the course of 2015 as we cover these films, particularly Creed.

Stay tuned for more…
