Amazon has released the trailer for the upcoming four-part documentary series “The Last Narc,” which will take an in-depth exploration of murder and kidnapping of a DEA Agent and the events leading up to it. The series promises to be a gritty and detailed unraveling of a tragic story that led to the death of “Kiki” Camarena.

The series has been directed by Tiller Russell, whose previous documentary works include the true-crime thriller “Operation Odessa” and “Precinct Seven Five,” which tells the story of a dirty NYC cop.

The following is the synopsis for the upcoming documentary series as written to accompany the trailer on the Amazon Prime Video YouTube channel:

In the Amazon Original The Last Narc, former cartel insiders divulge the bone-chilling details behind the notorious murder and kidnapping of DEA Agent “Kiki” Camarena. Through never before seen interviews, this four-part docuseries will unravel the story of Camarena, the drug cartel he infiltrated, and the narc who risked everything to discover the truth.

The story of Camerena was previously dramatized in the first season of the Netflix drama “Narcos: Mexico,” a companion series to the highly successful “Narcos” starring Golden Globe-nominated Wagner Moura. Michael Peña (“Crash”) portrayed Camerena in the series.

“The Last Narc” marks the latest Amazon original documentary series in the works, with sports documentaries, in particular, proving successful recently with the likes of “Take Us Home: Leeds United” and “The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team.”

The documentary series genre as a whole has continued to rise in popularity and demand, with the Netflix documentary “Tiger King” currently the talk of the town, capturing the minds and imagination of audiences all around the world.

Below is the official trailer for “The Last Narc” as posted on the Amazon Prime Video YouTube channel:
