A24 released the official trailer for “Under the Silver Lake.”
The crime/thriller tells the story of Sam, a man who becomes obsessed with the disappearance of his neighbor, Sarah. As he tries to find out what happened to her, he finds himself embroiled in a mystery.
Andrew Garfield plays Sam. He was nominated for an Academy Award for “Hacksaw Ridge” in 2016, and also starred in “Silence” that year. He also starred in the Best Picture nominated film “The Social Network” in 2010, and “The Amazing Spider-Man” in 2012.
Riley Keough stars as Sarah. Since her breakout performance in “American Honey” two years ago, she has been working non-stop. Last year she appeared in “It Comes at Night” and “Logan Lucky,” and this year she has five additional films coming.
“Under the Silver Lake” also stars Topher Grace (“Opening Night”) and Sydney Sweeney (“Everything Sucks!”).
The film was written and directed by David Robert Mitchell. His feature film debut, “The Myth of the American Sleepover,” scored a Special Jury Prize at SXSW in 2015. It also earned him two nominations at Cannes. He followed that film in 2014 with the horror hit, “It Follows.”
A24 has built a solid reputation of bringing some of the best in independent film to audiences. In just six years, they have established themselves as an important distribution and production company. Some of their recent films include “Lady Bird,” “The Killing of a Sacred Deer,” and “Moonlight.” They will soon release several other highly anticipated titles including “Hereditary,” “Woman Walks Ahead,” and “Eighth Grade.”
“Under the Silver Lake” will be in theaters June 22.
