The official trailer will be out next week, but Warner Bros. finally revealed a first look at the highly anticipated romantic comedy, “Crazy Rich Asians.”

Constance Wu stars as Rachel, a New York girl who has been dating Nick (Henry Golding). When Rachel accompanies Nick to Singapore to attend his best friend’s wedding, she is nervous about meeting his family. What she doesn’t expect to learn is that Nick’s family is crazy rich. And disapproving of any girl they don’t find good enough for Nick.

Constance Wu is best known for her role as family matriarch Jessica in the ABC series “Fresh Off the Boat.” She also starred in the series “Eastsiders,” and has several other films winding their way to theaters.

Henry Golding hosted two Asian reality series, “Welcome to the Railworld Japan” and “Surviving Borneo.” He makes his feature film debut here, but will also appear in Paul Feig’s upcoming film, “A Simple Favor.”

“Crazy Rich Asians” also stars Michelle Yeoh as Nick’s disapproving mother. Yeoh has starred in films including “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.” She also stars on the CBS All Access series “Star Trek: Discovery.”

Gemma Chan (“Humans”), Ken Jeong (“The Hangover”), and Awkwafina (“Neighbors 2”) appear as well. Chan will soon appear in both “Mary Queen of Scots” and “Captain Marvel.” Awkwafina will delight audiences this summer in “Ocean’s 8.”

“Crazy Rich Asians” is adapted from the novel by Kevin Kwan. Peter Chiarelli wrote the script, and Adele Lim added revisions. Chiarelli wrote the romantic comedy “The Proposal.” Lim mostly writes and produces for television, with credits that include “One Tree Hill,” “Private Practice,” and “Dynasty.”

Jon M. Chu directs the film. His directing credits include two “Step Up” films, the popular documentary “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,” “Jem and the Holograms,” and “Now You See Me 2.”

“Crazy Rich Asians” will hit theaters on August 17.
