Warner Bros. released the first trailer for its upcoming film, “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.”

The film is a sequel to 2016’s “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” and is a prequel to the Harry Potter series. The “Fantastic Beasts” films take place some 70 years before Harry Potter enrolled in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

“The Crimes of Grindelwald” is the second in a planned pentalogy of films that follow Newt Scamander, a British wizard with a love for magical creatures. The first film took him to New York, where he found friendship with some American wizards before crossing paths with the dangerous Gellert Grindelwald. In this sequel, Scamander will work with the great Albus Dumbledore to stop Grindelwald from committing any more atrocities.

Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne reprises his role as Newt Scamander. He is set to reunite with Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol, who play magicalsisters, and Dan Fogler, a no-maj—non-magical person. Ezra Miller returns as Credence, and Zoë Kravitz and Carmen Ejogo also return.

Johnny Depp made a brief appearance in the first film as Grindelwald. This time around, we will see a lot more of him. He will face off with Jude Law as his friend-turned-nemesis, Dumbledore.

J.K. Rowling wrote the script for this film, as well as the first. She is on tap to write the latter three, too. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series became an international phenomenon following its original release in 1997. The series included seven books, and became eight films. Films that launched the careers of Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint.

David Yates is the director of all five “Fantastic Beasts” films, too. He landed in the Wizarding World with “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” and has directed every Potter-related film since.

“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” will be in theaters on November 16.
