Elastigirl finally gets her own time in the hero’s spotlight in the new sneak peek for Disney-Pixar’s “Incredibles 2,” which premiered during Wednesday night’s broadcast of the 2018 Olympics.
The teaser trailer picks up directing after the events of the first “Incredibles,” where the super family has finally come to terms with one another’s superpowers. But not everyone is so tolerant of supers, as the ban on superhero duties continues to Dash and Sarah’s annoyance. But a new opportunity pops up for Helen Parr, the family matriarch, when mysterious tycoon Winston Deavor advertises his ability to get supers back to their old duties, without risk of public penalty. However, as the affable baby Jack-Jack is doing the flaming, floating, laser beam version of super babbling, someone’s got to stay home with the kids. Mr. Parr– a.k.a., Mr. Incredible– refuses to stand in her way, taking over on the home front while Elastigirl goes off to help the world at large. “I’ve got to succeed, so she can succeed,” he says. But baby Jack-Jack has more superpowers than anyone, including his father, is prepared to handle.
According to Variety, the upcoming sequel sees the return of most of the original cast, including Craig T. Nelson (“Grace and Frankie”), Holly Hunter (“Here and Now”), Sarah Vowell (“Incredibles”), Samuel L. Jackson (“The Hateful Eight”), and director Brad Bird (“Incredibles”), who pulls triple duty as the voice of the fabulous superhero fashion designer, Edna Mode, and the movie’s screenwriter. John Ratzenberger (“Toy Story”) also returns as the crazed, ineffective villain Underminer. Newcomer Huck Milner will voice Dash alongside a cast of new faces in the super world, including Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”), Sophia Bush (“Chicago P.D.”), Catherine Keener (“Get Out”), Jonathan Banks (“Mudbound”) and Isabella Rossellini (“Shut Eye”).
