Walt Disney Studios has today released the trailer for the upcoming family adventure film “Jungle Cruise” starring the unlikely but star-studded duo of Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. The film has been based on the river boat attraction found at various Disneyland’s around the world.

The following synopsis has been released by Disney Studios to accompany the trailer:

“Join fan favorites Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt for the adventure of a lifetime on Disney’s “Jungle Cruise,” a rollicking thrill-ride down the Amazon with wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff and intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton. Lily travels from London, England to the Amazon jungle and enlists Frank’s questionable services to guide her downriver on La Quila—his ramshackle-but-charming boat. Lily is determined to uncover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities—possessing the power to change the future of medicine. Thrust on this epic quest together, the unlikely duo encounters innumerable dangers and supernatural forces, all lurking in the deceptive beauty of the lush rainforest. But as the secrets of the lost tree unfold, the stakes reach even higher for Lily and Frank and their fate—and mankind’s—hangs in the balance.”

This marks the first time that Blunt and Johnson have worked together, with both coming off the back of successful projects in the last couple of years. Johnson made big box office with sequels “Jumanji: The Next Level” and “Hobbs & Shaw” last year, while Blunt has the sequel to “A Quiet Place” coming this month as well as having had success with her portrayal of Mary Poppins in “Mary Poppins Returns” in 2018. Both actors are no strangers to working with Disney and this could be another box office success for the company.

Joining Blunt and Johnson are Golden Globe nominee Edgar Ramirez (“American Crime Story”), British comedian Jack Whitehall, Emmy Award nominee Jesse Plemons (“Black Mirror”) and Academy Award nominee Paul Giamatti (“Cinderella Man”).

“The Commuter” director Jaume Collet-Serra is at the helm, while Glenn Ficarra and John Requa have penned the screenplay based on the story by Ficarra, Requa and Michael Green. Leading man Johnson also serves as a producer on the project while Disney also lists “John Davis, John Fox, Hiram Garcia, Dany Garcia, and Beau Flynn” as producers too.
