It’s more than six months before the release of the live-action “Beauty and the Beast,” but Disney is amping up publicity now. Today, a sneak peek of the film – which is really a teaser for more clips coming Sept. 6 – was released. In it, stars Emma Watson (Belle) and Dan Stevens (the Beast) table read as their characters.

In the clip, director Bill Condon also explains the choice to remake the film. “When something is so perfect, why get near it?” he asks. “The answer is technology has caught up to the ideas introduced in that movie.”

Earlier this week, producer Jack Morrissey teased the first images and concept art from the film.

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic. The film brings to life the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a modern audience.

“Beauty and the Beast” tells the story of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who becomes a prisoner to a beast in his castle. Then, despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Kevin Kline, Luke EvansJosh Gad, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald also star.

“Beauty and the Beast” is directed by Oscar winner Bill Condon from a screenplay by Evan Spiliotopoulos and Stephen Chbosky based on the 1991 animated film. Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing.

Eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken provides the score. Menken won two Academy Awards (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film. The new film will include new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman. In addition, it will feature several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice.

“Beauty and the Beast” will be released in U.S. theaters on March 17, 2017. Check out the clip below.
