Your favorite brick people are back in the new teaser for “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.”
Warner Bros. released the trailer on Tuesday, along with the official synopsis:
“‘The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part’ reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.”
Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks reprise their roles as Emmet and Wyldstyle, after saving their people from the evil Lord Business. Jonah Hill, Alison Brie, and Will Arnett also return for the sequel. They are joined by Channing Tatum, Nick Offerman, Tiffany Haddish, and more. Arnett’s Batman was so popular after the first film, he earned his own spin-off, “The LEGO Batman Movie.”
This is the fourth film in the “LEGO Movie” franchise. Last year also saw the release of “The LEGO Ninjago Movie.” None of the subsequent films have captured the audience or the critical praise of the original, which was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. While they aren’t directing this time, they did help write the script, along with Matt Fogel.
This film is co-directed by Mike Mitchell and Trisha Gum. Gum worked as crew on the first film. Mitchell also directed “Monsters vs. Aliens,” “Trolls,” and “Shrek Forever After.”
“The LEGO Movie 2” is still in production, and will be in theaters on February 8, 2019.
