Horror fans, it’s here! New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have released the hotly anticipated trailer for Andy Muschietti’s “It: Chapter Two,” based on Stephen King’s 1986 horror novel.
The story continues for the Losers Club. In 1989, they met and bonded over their fears, which were all manifested in the form of a multi-dimensional killer clown, Pennywise. They defeated him, forming a blood pact to return and finish the job should he rise again. Now 27 years after the events of 2017’s “It,” they reunite as adults and return to Derry, Maine, where Pennywise the Clown has reemerged from hibernation. The cast of the sequel includes James McAvoy as Bill, Jessica Chastain as Beverly, Bill Hader as Ritchie, Jay Ryan as Ben, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, Andy Bean as Stanley and James Ransome as Eddie. Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise.
Although the cast of the original crew has changed a bit, some interesting things are happening behind-the-scenes.The first chapter had an impressive team of writers including Gary Dauberman, Cary Fukanaga, and Chase Palmer. For Muschietti’s sequel, only Dauberman has returned to the writer’s room. Golden Globe-nominated composer Benjamin Walfisch (“It,” “Blade Runner 2049” “Shazam!”) returns to score the horror. Peruvian cinematographer Checco Varese (“Replicas”) is the film’s DP.
Muschietti’s 2017 film racked up $327 million at the domestic box office, while slamming $700 million worldwide. “It: Chapter Two” is being produced by New Line Cinema (otherwise known to horror aficionados as “The House that Freddy Built”) along with Lin Pictures, Vertigo Entertainment and Katzsmith Productions.
“It: Chapter Two” makes its way to theaters September 6. Until then, check out AwardsCircuit’s Top 10 Stephen King adaptations!
