The new and final trailer for Denis Villeneuve‘s “Arrival” is here. The new clip features familiar clips spliced with some new footage. The alien’s symbol for weapon, treason accusations and more alien interactions are on hand in the latest clip.
The film takes place after alien crafts land around the world. Louise Banks (Amy Adams), an expert linguist, is recruited by the military to determine whether or not they are a threat. Jeremy Renner plays mathematician Ian Donnelly, who helps Louise on her mission. Forest Whitaker also stars in the film.
Per Renner in an interview with USA Today, audiences can expect a “thinking person’s film.” He says it’s more along the lines of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” or “Contact” than a big, alien actioner.
The film debuted at the Venice Film Festival, before screening at several others around the globe. Reviews for “Arrival” have been astounding, so far. As of press time, the film has a 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes out of 46 reviews.
The Hollywood Reporter had this to say:
Anchored by an internalized performance from Amy Adams rich in emotional depth, this is a grownup sci-fi drama that sustains fear and tension while striking affecting chords on love and loss.
And our own Mark Johnson said this:
‘Arrival’ is a true game changer. It is a deeply profound and hypnotically enigmatic tale, and it will require multiple viewings to peel through all of the layers that Villeneuve has laid before us.
“Arrival” is slated for release on Nov. 11.
