WATCH: Final Trailer Released for Andrea Berloff’s Crime Drama ‘The Kitchen’

Warner Bros Pictures has released the final trailer for Andrea Berloff‘s crime drama, “The Kitchen.” Based on the DC Vertigo comic series created by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle, the gritty story stars two-time Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy, Emmy winner Tiffany Haddish and Golden Globe winner Elisabeth Moss.

New York City, 1978. The 20 blocks of pawnshops, porn palaces and dive bars between 8th Avenue and the Hudson River owned by the Irish mafia and known as Hell’s Kitchen was never the easiest place to live. Or the safest. But for mob wives Kathy, Ruby and Claire–played by Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Elisabeth Moss–things are about to take a radical, dramatic turn. When their husbands are sent to prison by the FBI the women take business into their own hands, running the rackets and taking out the competition…literally.

Berloff directs and cowrites the script, a blistering take on mob dramas with a exceptional eye on the female-driven narrative. This marks her directorial debut, having a background of screenwriting under her wing. She was nominated for an Academy Award for her screenplay for “Straight Outta Compton.” Her past work include the scripts for Oliver Stone’s “World Trade Center” and Baron bo Odar’s “Sleepless.” A real knack for the action genre, her debut as director is a sure anticipation for the summer. “The Kitchen” is filmed almost exclusively in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen with “Creed” cinematographer Maryse Alberti.

The film also stars Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi”), James Badge Dale (“Only the Brave”), Brian d’Arcy James (“Spotlight”), with Margo Martindale (“The Americans”), Oscar winner Common (“Selma,” “Marshall”), and Bill Camp (“Vice”). Richard Brener, Michael Disco, Dave Neustadter, Aaron L. Gilbert, Jason Cloth, Elishia Holmes, and Adam Schlagman serve as executive producers.

“The Kitchen” is being distributed by Warner Bros Pictures and lands in theaters August 9.
