Apple TV+ have released the first trailer for “Truth Be Told,” a new drama starring Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer.
When new evidence compels podcaster Poppy Parnell (Octavia Spencer) to reopen the murder case that made her a national sensation, she comes face to face with Warren Cave (Aaron Paul), the man she may have mistakenly helped to put behind bars. Her investigation navigates urgent concerns about privacy, media and race.
The series is created by Nichelle Tramble Spellman (“The Good Wife,” “Justified”) who also produces and writes for the show, inspired by Kathleen Barber’s novel, “Are You Sleeping?”
Spencer is an Academy Award-winning actress. She won her Oscar for her supporting role in “The Help,” which was followed by supporting nominations in “Hidden Figures” and in the Best Picture-winning “The Shape of Water.” She stars in the upcoming drama as a lead character. Spencer was also seen in the Sundance favorite, “Luce,” alongside Tim Roth, Naomi Watts and rising star Kelvin Harrison Jr.
The cast of “Truth Be Told” also features three-time Primetime Emmy winner Aaron Paul, Elizabeth Perkins, Michael Beach, Mekhi Phifer, Tracie Thomas, Haneefah Wood and Ron Cephas Jones.
The Apple TV+ service will allow subscribers to access all new original shows and movies across any given genre. Other titles under the Apple TV+ package, premiering in the fall, include projects from Oprah Winfrey, JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg. Another drama series set to debut on the app is “The Morning Show,” starring Jennifer Anniston, Stevve Carell and Reese Witherspoon.
“Truth Be Told” is produced by Chernin Entertainment, Endeavor Content and Hello Sunshine. It premieres on Apple TV+ with a subscription December 6. Apple TV+ will launch on November 1.
