WATCH: Four ‘Widows’ Go On the Offense in Official Trailer

The official trailer for Steve McQueen’s highly anticipated new film “Widows” has arrived.

The film is an adaptation of the 1983 miniseries from Lynda La Plante. “Widows” tells the story of four widows whose husbands were all involved in nefarious activities in the Chicago mob. The men left behind debts and the people who killed them still intend to collect from their widows.

The original miniseries was set in London, and followed the story of three women whose husbands had died trying to rob an armored car. They decide to finish the job, enlisting the help of a fourth woman. That miniseries earned two BAFTA TV nominations, for sound and Best Drama Series/Special.

Steve McQueen directs and co-wrote the script with “Gone Girl” writer Gillian Flynn. McQueen won an Oscar for his Best Picture, “12 Years a Slave” in 2012. He was also nominated that year for directing the film.

Gillian Flynn earned a Golden Globe nomination for adapting her own novel. She also wrote the novels “Dark Places” and “Sharp Objects,” both of which have been adapted. The first became a film starring Charlize Theron. The second is an Amazon Original TV series and stars Amy Adams.

Viola Davis (“Fences”) stars in “Widows,” along with Michelle Rodriguez (“Fast and the Furious” franchise), Elizabeth Debicki (“The Cloverfield Paradox”) and Cynthia Erivo (“Step”).

Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Daniel Kaluuya, Brian Tyree Henry, Lucas Haas, Jon Bernthal, Robert Duvall, Jacki Weaver, and Carrie Coon also star.

Iain Canning, Emile ShermanSteve McQueen, Arnon Milchan are all producers on the film.

Regency Enterprises and 20th Century Fox produced “Widows” and are distributing it. It will be in theaters on November 16.
