The trailer for the NEON horror film “Possessor” has been unveiled, and it promises plenty of gore and a plethora of intense and thrilling sequences.
Andrea Riseborough stars as Tasya Vos, a corporate assassin, with other members of the star-studded cast including Sean Bean, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Christopher Abbott, Rossif Sutherland, and Tuppence Middleton.
The synopsis reads as followed:
“From the visionary mind of writer/director Brandon Cronenberg, POSSESSOR is an arresting sci-fi thriller about elite, corporate assassin Tasya Vos. Using brain-implant technology, Vos takes control of other people’s bodies to execute high profile targets. As she sinks deeper into her latest assignment Vos becomes trapped inside a mind that threatens to obliterate her.”
Brandon Cronenberg, son of the legendary David, directs and pens the script for the horror, making only his second directorial feature film. His first, “Antiviral” told the haunting story of an industry selling illnesses to celebrities in order to infect their stalking fans, with the film appearing at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and a nominee for the Un Certain Regard Award.
While Cronenberg begins his rise as a promising director, he is sure to follow in his father’s footsteps, who made classics such as the horror “The Fly” as well as a variety of critically acclaimed collaborations with Viggo Mortensen, including “Eastern Promises” and “A History of Violence.”
Neon meanwhile has been on an extraordinary rise of its own as a production and distribution company since its inception in 2017, with modern classics already to its name such as “Parasite” and “I, Tonya.” Along with “Possessor,” Neon also has the romantic drama “Ammonite” currently scheduled for a 2020 release, which stars Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan.
