The new teaser trailer for “Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built” is out, and it’s sure to creep you out. Starring Helen Mirren (“Woman in Gold”) as Winchester firearms heiress Sarah Winchester, the supernatural thriller focuses on a real-life manmade prison for vengeful ghosts; believe me, you’ve never seen a haunted mansion quite like the Winchester Mystery House.
The 24,000 square foot house was the home of Winchester, who tragically lost her husband and her infant child early on in life. She never recovered after the losses, believing she was cursed by the souls of those killed by Winchester guns. In a lifelong attempt to contain them, she turned her home into a ghost asylum, ordering constant, 24/7 construction. The home became filled with doorways that led nowhere, random walls and untold architectural traps designed to trick the ghosts into her prison. Mirren plays the somber but terrified lady of the manor, hellbent on fighting the ghosts that seem to have it out for her family. Is Winchester insane, or fighting a war no one else sees? Jason Clarke (“Everest”) and Sarah Snook (“The Glass Castle”) also star as Dr. Eric Price and Sarah’s niece, Marian.
“Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built” is helmed by Michael Spierig (“Daybreakers”) and Peter Spierig (“Daybreakers”), who cowrote the flick with Tom Vaughan (“Unstoppable”). Tim McGahan (“Predestination”) and Brett Tomberlin (“Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show”) produced.
According to Deadline, “Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built” creeps into theaters Feb. 2, 2018. Watch the teaser trailer below.
