Giving a franchise to filmmaker Shane Black was a very good idea for Marvel. He took the “Iron Man” series and gave it a slight tweak with “Iron Man 3.” Now, he’s hoping to do the same with “The Predator,” a reboot of sorts for that franchise. This iconic character has really only been treated well in one film previously, the original “Predator.” “Predator 2” was mediocre, while the less said about the two “Alien vs. Predator” outings, the better As for “Predators” a few years back, it’s probably the only other halfway decent outing, but that’s damning with faint praise. Now, Black gets a chance to right some wrongs.

the predator 655x33020th Century Fox has unveiled a Red Band Trailer for “The Predator,” amping up the intensity and violence from the Green Band one. It looks like a solid action outing, with a genetically modified and upgraded version of the Predator being the highlight. Black directs and co-writes with Fred Dekker. Cast wise, this has a pretty strong ensemble. Sterling K. Brown, Jake Busey, Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Edward James Olmos, Trevante Rhodes, Yvonne Strahovski, and Jacob Tremblay lead the way. Below the line, Larry Fong handles the cinematography and Henry Jackman does the score. There’s enough talent involved here to make this one to watch out for.

This is the studio plot synopsis for the film:

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

Here now is “The Predator” Red Band Trailer:

“The Predator” hits screens on September 14th. Stay tuned for more on the movie in the months to come.
