Paramount Pictures released a teaser trailer for its upcoming film, “A Quiet Place.”
Although the title is evocative of some kind of drama, this movie is pure horror. The teaser doesn’t reveal much about the story line. Just that a family is living in the woods, and that if they make any noise, something will find them.
“A Quiet Place” is directed and co-written by John Krasinski. Best known for his lovable prankster Jim Halpert on “The Office,” Krasinski slides into the director’s chair for his third feature. His first two films were “Brief Interviews with Hideous Men” and “The Hollars.” The first was a comedy/drama, and the second was more of a romantic comedy. This is his first foray into horror both as a director and as an actor.
Krasinski also stars in this film alongside his wife, Emily Blunt. Blunt is a 5-time Golden Globe nominee, winning Supporting Actress in 2005 for the TV movie, “Gideon’s Daughter.” Her most recent nomination came for the film, “Into the Woods.” She recently completed filming on the “Mary Poppins” sequel, due in theaters next year.
Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds play the two children in the movie. Jupe recently played Matt Damon’s son in “Suburbicon,” and appears in “Wonder,” currently in theaters. Simmonds is also currently in theaters with her film debut, “Wonderstruck.”
Sharing screenwriting duties with Krasinski are Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. The pair worked together on several projects, including the 2006 western, “The Bride Wore Blood.”
“A Quiet Place” is coming to theaters on April 6, 2018.
