Now, Annapurna Pictures is stepping up their campaign with a new FYC trailer. The trailer showcases emotional moments from the film, set to the narration of Maya Angelou’s “Still I Rise.”
“Detroit” was originally released in late July. Despite critical acclaim, the slow summer box office claimed the film, based on real events, as a victim of low ticket sales. Overall, “Detroit” fell just short of the mark set by Kathryn Bigelow‘s 2009 Best Picture, “The Hurt Locker.”
The film is submitted for considered in all categories, including Best Picture, Best Director (Kathryn Bigelow), and Best Original Screenplay (Mark Boal). Also part of the FYC campaign are performances by John Boyega, Algee Smith, and Will Poulter, among others.
“Detroit” will be available digitally on November 28, with a theatrical re-release beginning December 1 in select locations.
