Netflix has today released the trailer for the upcoming action thriller “Extraction,” starring Chris Hemsworth as a mercenary without fear. The trailer promises plenty of violence, adrenaline-filled set pieces, and an unstoppable protagonist.
Joining Hemsworth as part of the cast is Emmy Award nominee David Harbour (“Stranger Things”), along with Pankaj Tripathi, Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, and Golshifteh Farahani. Sam Hargrave makes his directorial feature debut with the project, having previously been best known as a stunt coordinator. He was part of the SAG Award winning stunt ensemble for “Avengers: Endgame” last year.
The following is the synopsis for “Extraction” as posted on the official Netflix site:
A hardened mercenary’s mission becomes a soul-searching race to survive when he’s sent into Bangladesh to rescue a drug lord’s kidnapped son.
The script has been penned by “Avengers: Endgame” co-director Joe Russo, with his brother Anthony Russo also serving as a producer alongside him and Hemsworth. Eric Gitter and Mike Larocca also serve as producers on the film. The original title of the film was “Out of the Fire” but changed in post-production, with the name “Extraction” recently revealed. Much of the film is set in Bangladesh.
Many of Hemsworth’s recent projects have been his role as Thor in the MCU, including the upcoming “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which is in pre-production. Last year he starred in the “Men in Black” reboot “Men in Black: International” along with his “Thor: Ragnarok” co-star Tessa Thompson.
