In the midst of San Diego Comic-Con, a new trailer for “21 Bridges” has been released by executive producers Anthony and Joe Russo. Still riding the wave of “Avengers: Endgame”‘s success, The Russo Brothers appeared at the con for their Hall H panel, showcasing their slate of projects which include “Magic the Gathering” animated series, adapting the Japanese anime “Battle of the Planets” and confirming an R-rating for their next feature film, “Cherry,” a drug addict drama that will see Tom Holland in the lead role.
Giving their time to more projects with Avengers heroes, the Russo Brothers dropped a new trailer for the Chadwick Boseman-starring drama, directed by Brian Kirk. Boseman plays Andre Davis, a disgraced detective for the NYPD, who is given a chance at redemption as he hunts down a cop killer only to find traces of his own law enforcement compromised. He finds himself in a city-wide manhunt with the closure of all Manhattan bridges. The film also stars J.K Simmons (“Whiplash”), Stephan James (“If Beale Street Could Talk”), Taylor Kitsch (“‘Friday Night Lights”) and Sienna Miller (“American Sniper”).
Boseman had a stellar 2018, with his leading role in Marvel’s revolutionary “Black Panther,” and then with “Avengers: Infinity War.” “21 Bridges” is his first role stepping out of the panther suit. Brian Kirk directs the film with a script from Adam Mervis and Matthew Michael Carnahan. Kirk has directed many episodes of television, more notably for HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” “Penny Dreadful,” “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Tudors.” This will be his first theatrical feature.
