We are excited to the new trailer for the indie comedy “Being Frank” from Miranda Bailey.  Formerly known as “You Can Choose Your Family,” which screened at the Gasparilla Film Festival earlier this year, the film stars funny man Jim Gaffigan.

The film also stars Logan Miller, Samantha Mathis, Alex Karpovsky, and Anna Gunn.

Earlier this year, Miller co-starred in the horror film, “Escape Room” while Karpovsky was recently seen in the film “The Sound of Silence” and Amazon’s drama series “Homecoming.”

Mathis, who co-starred in hit movies of the 90s such as “Super Mario Bros.” and “The Thing Called Love,” can currently be seen on Showtime’s “Billions” as Sara Hammond, a role that may garner her Emmy attention in Guest Actress (Drama).  Gunn won multiple Emmy Awards for her work on AMC’s hit show “Breaking Bad” and will have a role in the upcoming feature length “Deadwood” movie from HBO.

Director Miranda Bailey has produced such indie hits like “The Diary of a Teenage Girl” as well as helming the documentary “The Pathological Optimist” in 2017.  This is her narrative feature debut.

“Being Frank” opens in New York and Los Angeles on June 14 and is distributed by The Film Arcade.

It’s 1992, the year Grunge music becomes mainstream hitting middle American teenagers directly in their angst. Phillip longs to leave his small town for music school in The Big Apple. His dreams are dashed when his overbearing father, Frank, played by Jim Gaffigan, forbids it. In retaliation to his father’s dictatorial parenting, he sneaks away for a wild spring break. However, when he crosses state lines he instead finds a charming lake community where he spots his father with another woman. Turns out, his father lives in this town and has an entire other family. With this new heartbreaking information Philip realizes he can wallow in his father’s deceit or take matters into his own hands.

  1. I am in Chicago and evidently we have to wait till it hits here. As I’m a big Gaffigan fan and the trailer looks hilarious, this will be an awful time in my life. 😆
