Happy 4th of July! In celebration of the holiday, NBC tweeted a new promo for the rebooted “Will & Grace,” set to premiere this fall. The promo features stars Debra Messing (“The Mysteries of Laura”), Megan Mullally (“Party Down”), Sean Hayes (“The Bucket List”) and Eric McCormack (“Perception”) hugging and posing for the camera. According to EW, NBC officially announced the show’s comeback back in January, with the four major stars all returning to reprise their roles in the queer comedy.

Hayes and McCormack both retweeted the promo, with McCormack also exclaiming, “Happy 4th! See y’all soon!” It seems that the entire cast and crew is excited for the show’s reboot, with the four stars sharing behind the scenes photos and even a pic of the show’s script, courtesy of creator Max Mutchnick (“S#*! My Dad Says”). And no, you’re not the only one who sees that mention of a monkey. Hopefully that is explained in the coming ninth season. The show also released an official trailer back in March, which featured all four actors in a musical sequence. The reboot is sure to be a smashing success, judging by the trailer. Watch it below.
Unsurprisingly, the “Will & Grace” reboot came to pass due to the state of US politics. A mini episode of the hit show was released just before the 2016 presidential election, with all four main characters reacting in various ways to Trump’s candidacy. The mini episode paved the way for the show’s comeback, which was officially announced a few months later.
“Will & Grace” won six Primetime Emmys during its previous eight season run. According to Deadline, the show also made TV history by featuring openly gay people as lead characters on a primetime network show. Undoubtedly, the show will continue to represent the LGBTQIA+ community this fall.
“Will & Grace” returns this fall on Thursday, September 28. Watch the promo below.
