“Last Days in the Desert” premiered way back at 2015’s Sundance to mostly positive reviews, and now it is finally getting a trailer.
Written and directed by Rodrigo Garcia, the film is a fictional account of some of Jesus’ 40 days in the desert. Ewan McGregor plays both Jesus and the Devil who tempts him. Tye Sheridan, Ciarán Hinds and Ayelet Zurer also star.
A big draw for the film is cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, who recently won his third Oscar this year for his work on “The Revenant.”
The film is due for a limited release on May 13.
Last Days in the Desert follows Jesus (Ewan McGregor) in an imagined chapter from his forty days of fasting and praying in the desert. On his way out of the wilderness, he struggles with the Devil, also played by McGregor, over the fate of an ordinary family in crisis, setting for himself a dramatic test with distinctly human conflicts.
