WATCH: ‘Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams’ Announces Amazon Premiere Date

2018 will usher in the next great dystopian story, courtesy of author Philip K. Dick, Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios. “Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams,” a 10 part TV series based on Dick’s works, will hit Amazon Jan. 12. Each episode will focus on a different Dick short story featuring the likes of Richard Madden (“Cinderella”), Steve Buscemi (“Boardwalk Empire”), Anna Paquin (“True Blood”), Greg Kinnear (“Little Miss Sunshine”), Essie Davis (“Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries”) and more.

The US launch comes after its UK release, where Channel 4 has been airing the anthology series in October, according to Deadline. It pulls in an average of 600,000-1 million UK viewers and airs in a similar slot to 2017’s dystopian thriller “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which earned eight Primetime Emmys for its first season. Amazon snagged the TV rights to “Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams” earlier this year after AMC took themselves out of the picture.

The series is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore (“Outlander”), Michael Dinner (“Sneaky Pete”), David Kanter (“The Revenant”) and Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”), who’s pulling double duty as an actor on the series. “Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams” is set to reach audiences in every corner of the world, streaming via Amazon in Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Latin America, Spain, and Turkey. It will also air on Stan in Australia and Space in Canada.

Dick is a critically acclaimed author whose works have been adapted into several hit films, including “Total Recall,” “Minority Report” and “A Scanner Darkly” and Amazon’s “The Man in the High Castle,” according to Techspot. His book “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” also inspired the original “Blade Runner.”

“Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams” premieres Jan. 12 on Amazon Prime. Watch the official trailer below.
