WATCH: Red Band Trailer for ‘The Predator’ Shows Shane Black Jokes and Violence

The Predator

While The Predator” has not looked like an Oscar player for most of the season, it remains one of the most interesting titles to release this year. The return of the sci-fi, action, horror franchise is exciting. With Shane Black on board to direct and write, many felt the perfect combination of IP and director came together. The way in which the cast feels like a “Lethal Weapon” cast is no surprise either. We’ve already received a pair of trailers for the film. Now we get a red band, with all the R-rated violence we want.

“The Predator” seems to borrow the blueprint of “Aliens,” which can only be a good thing. Not only do we have the larger ensemble, but humor is clearly at the heart of the film. On top of that, we get more kills, more blood, and of course, more Predators. The idea of a “Super Predator,” or whatever it is bound, feels like the only way to up the ante. The cast seems more than up to the task to sell their film.

The ensemble is extremely large and pulls from crazy properties. Boyd Holbrook continues to find work after “Logan” and in his “Narcos” offseason. Sterling K. Brown showcases his charisma and comedic timing throughout the trailer. Olivia Munn joins as a scientist, and Trevante Rhodes plays up the humor. Even Keegan-Michael Key feels perfectly at home in this feature. While this most recent trailer features significantly less Jacob Tremblay, he’s a curious x-factor in the movie as well. Thomas JaneAlfie AllenAugusto Aguilera, and Jake Busey all feature as well. Get ready for an ’80s throwback action film, that very much looks to be one of the best action films of the year.
