Watch Robert Downey, Jr. in ‘The Judge’ Trailer and Poster from Warner Bros.

As the Academy Award Predictions continue to be updated, I keep a close eye on David Dobkin’s The Judge starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Robert Duvall.  Distributed by Warner Bros., and given a very awards-friendly October 10 release, this could be a true contender as the year plays out.  The film tells the story of a big city lawyer Hank Palmer who returns to his childhood home where his father, the town’s judge, is suspected of murder. Hank sets out to discover the truth and, along the way, reconnects with his estranged family.

Is this Oscar-bait?  Not sure but I’m intrigued for now.  The film also stars Vera Farmiga, Vincent D’Onofrio, Billy Bob Thornton, and Leighton Meester.

Check out the new poster, an exclusive photo from EW, and the trailer:
