Watch the Trailer for the Roger Ebert documentary ‘Life Itself’

life-itself-2Earlier this week I was lucky enough to see the documentary Life Itself about the late Roger Ebert and it’s a work of art folks. One of the best docs I’ve seen in years (and perhaps the best film I’ve seen this year so far just in general), it’s heartbreaking and life affirming in equal measure. A Trailer has dropped for the film, which you can see below, and it hints at what’s to come for audiences. I’d love for this to be an Oscar contender, since it very much deserves that honor. The movie comes out in July, so there’s still about a month and a half to get ready for what the doc has in store for you all. Directed by Steve James, Life Itself brought me to tears.

When he’s not obsessing over new Oscar predictions on a weekly basis, Joey is seeing between 300 and 350 movies a year. He views the best in order to properly analyze the awards race/season each year, but he also watches the worst for reasons he mostly sums up as "so you all don't have to". In his spare time, you can usually find him complaining about the Jets or the Mets. Still, he lives and dies by film. Joey's a voting member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
