The official trailer for Season 2 of “Westworld” is here, and I can’t make head nor tails of it. The nearly two minute trailer is a montage of discordant images; one minute, you’re looking at Dolores in a gunfight in the Wild West, and the next two ATVs fly past. Bernard Lowe stares down at a drowned tiger at the edge of a riverbank. Someone hangs upside down from a tree, desperately reaching for a gun on the ground, just out of reach. There’s even a stunning bloodbath at the Westworld facility. To finish it off, the Man in Black smiles creepily at the camera, face in the shadows of a big black cowboy hat, dripping blood from several cuts on his cheeks.
Clearly Evan Rachel Wood (“The Wrestler”), Jeffrey Wright (“Casino Royale”) and Ed Harris (“Gravity”) will be returning, as will Thandie Newton (“The Slap”), James Marsden (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”), Louis Herthum (“Longmire”). Talulah Riley (“Pride and Prejudice”) and Jonathan Tucker (“Kingdom”) will also return. J.J. Abrams (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”), Jonathan Nolan (“The Dark Knight”), and Lisa Joy (“Burn Notice”) return as executive producers. Additionally, Katja Herbers (“The Americans”), and Neil Jackson (“Absentia”), will be joining the cast, according to EW. Herbers will portray a “seasoned guest in Westworld whose latest visit comes at the park’s darkest hour.” Jackson plays “a charming, resourceful man who finds himself in uncharted territory.”
“Westworld” returns sometime in 2018. Shooting for the new season begins this month.
