What’s On TV? – Friday (09/20/19) – ‘Between Two Ferns: The Movie’ Aims to Make Us Laugh

Tonight’s selections include two films that are completely different but are incredibly entertaining. With a new Netflix original comedy and a classic Sylvester Stallone action vehicle, Friday night is movie night at your house. Along with these two selections, there are some other great movies on as well as new episodes of your favorite television shows. Thank God it’s Friday with a lineup like this.

Pick of the Day:

“Between Two Ferns: The Movie” (Netflix)

From the small screen segment to a full length feature, Zach Galifianakis brings his popular Funny or Die talk show to life on Netflix. “Between Two Ferns: The Movie” follows Galifianakis as his talk show alter-ego, who must deal the consequences of almost killing Matthew McConaughey in an interview gone wrong. Faced with having to prove himself to the network executives, he sets out on the road to do the best interviews he has ever done and prove he is the right man for the job.

With a small crew with him, Galifianakis interviews a plethora of celebrities that include Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Hamm, Brie Larson, Tessa Thompson, David Letterman and more. The film is directed by original co-creator Scott Aukerman, who also co-wrote the film with Galifianakis. Looking to be as awkwardly funny as the original videos, “Between Two Ferns: The Movie” should provide entertaining laughs for all who watch.

Movies on TV:

“First Blood” (AMC) at 8:00 PM ETImage result for first blood

“First Blood” follows John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone), a former Vietnam veteran that comes to visit a small Washington town in search of an old friend, but comes a target of the town’s brutality. Lead by the vindictive Sheriff Will Teasle (Brian Dennehy), the cops antagonize Rambo to the point where he snaps and uses his former military skills against them. “First Blood” is a highly entertaining action film that also looks at how soldiers handle PTSD when they come home from war. Besides “Rocky,” this is the role that Stallone is most known for and he plays the tortured war vet with furious anger. Watch “First Blood” tonight so you know how the story all began before seeing “Last Blood” in theaters this weekend.
