What’s On TV? – Friday (12/06/19) – Netflix and Noah Baumbach Unite With “Marriage Story”

As we step into December, Netflix delivers one of the most talked about films of the award season. Along with the return of Amazon’s premium show, tonight is a great start to the last month of 2019.

Pick of the Day:

“Marriage Story” (Netflix)

Since its appearance at many of the fall film festivals, the buzz for Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story” has been ecstatic, with many considering it a front runner for Best Picture at the 2020 Oscars. It follows Charlie (Adam Driver) and Nicole Barber (Scarlett Johansson), a married couple going through a rough divorce. Heartbreaking and beautiful, “Marriage Story” examines what it feels like to fall out of love with your significant other and how life goes on when everything changes. Built around Baumbach’s honest script and his excellent cast, dive into one of the most realistic depictions of divorce we have seen in some time.

Returning to Television:

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” (Amazon)

With so many eyes on all the new streaming services, now is not the time to forget about Amazon and their best show, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” Season three finds Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) and her manager Susie (Alex Borstein) taking their comedy act on the road. But while they find some success early on, they realize just how hard it’s going to be to continue the tour. With the great supporting cast returning and new guest star Sterling K. Brown joining this season, look for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” to continue to be the most charming comedy on television.
